random thoughts from the day
- I found out this morning that a man from our old social circle shot and killed his estranged wife. When I knew him, he was twenty-two and had a lot going for him. Now he's forty-eight and has three children that will never, ever be the same again. Selfish prick.
- A bank called me today to say they were passing my resume up to HR because I was over-qualified to be a teller. I called her back and left a message saying that customer service is my forte and I'd be happy to start at entry level. She's calling me tomorrow.
- The rest of the day went very well, even though my four o'clock appointment stood me up. I have three appointments for Thursday so hopefully there will be sales generated from that.
- I reached my 3700th reader today and wish I knew who the visitors were.
- Tonight I am taking Em to the mall to shop for bras and panties. You should have seen Bill's face when she asked him. Like a deer, caught in the headlights, lol!

You have to wonder what goes through some peoples minds, what got them to that terrible point.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the job and for Thursday too.
Probably the same face I get when I do laundry and find myself handling my daughter's pornographic, Victoria Secrets underwear. lol
ReplyDeleteOh wait, if the undies are for you, then never mind my last post. My bad.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, this guy you used to know...feel terrible for the kids, but agree, he's a selfish prick. He's also going to jail for the rest of his life. Moron.
I love being overqualified for things. It's like being told I'm too good for them. This is a litany I like my dates to repeat.
ReplyDeleteI like the K's you've been finding. Once I was mad enough to throw something, killing is so far beyond anything I could imagine doing. You wonder but the mind is imbalanced and can't be explained into a solution.
ReplyDeletePs: belated thank you's for stopping by and reaching out.
Kate - There are quite a few higher-level bank positions that are customer facing. Good luck on the job hunt -- if they hire you, they'll be lucky to have you.
ReplyDeletePoor woman. And poor kids, too. Once I started really standing up to my ex, that's when his anger escalated exponentially. I still freak out a little when the doorbell rings. I hate to think what those children are going through.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the bank Kate, they'd be better off with you as an employee.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool you are over-qualified! There was one job I applied for back when, and I was told that I was "over-qualified." grrr, lol.
ReplyDeleteI always write my submitted resumes to play down what my qualifications and work experience is as there is an assumption I would become rapidly bored
ReplyDeleteI miss knowing who reads me too. sigh
ReplyDeleteI do wish you luck with the job search!
Theres a new visitor here :). Awesome blog!
ReplyDeletegood luck with the job! it sounds promising!
ReplyDeleteI miss knowing who visited, too. I was 10 away from 10,000 at JS before the crash and was looking so forward to doing something special for that person. *sigh*
I wish I had the over qualified problem I haven't had a actual job in 5 years and 20 days. I have helped my husband in his many business ventures which hopefully will help but hard to explain on a resume or job application.
ReplyDeleteSounds promising re the bank job - fingers crossed
ReplyDeleteProbably lots of us that come by, read and move on without commenting. JS had that feature that stands out amongst the rest of the blogs.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the job!
ben
The remark about the bank job reminds me of how in the film Falling Down Michael Douglas says “They told me I was over-qualified and under-skilled.” [slight pause] “Or was it the other way round?”
ReplyDeleteHope the bank job pans out for you :-)
ReplyDeleteNot looking forward to the bra and panties when my seven year old reaches that age, that is a job for mum!
Never had to worry about bra and panty shopping. Don't have to worry about ever being over-qualified for a job, either :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd why was he so afraid of shopping for such unmentionables? LOL. {Good luck on the bank job -- if that's what you really want.}
