I'm getting quite comfortable here at Blogspot. I don't really miss journalspace as much as I used to, thanks mostly to the readers that have made a real effort to visit and leave a comment, so thank you very much!
I do miss the homepage, like most of you, but I've noticed that JSers are finding ways to congregate - a recent example is Simon's JS Community blog. I've got the link along the right hand side, so go ahead and visit.
That brings me to one of the only complaints I have about the place. Whenever I try to use my old cheatsheet for linking pages, it doesn't work and I have to try and edit it. I hate the way it looks without adding the link text:
So is there an easier way to add the link text without the editor automatically adding double tags? I've tried fooling around with it before, but to be honest, I'm so preocccupied with other things that I'm sure I couldn't concentrate on learning it anyway and just want someone to tell me, lol.
The other issue - the post editor doesn't always put spaces between my paragraphs.
I'm off to work! Hope you all have a good Tuesday.
Here's one of Simon's comments:
P.S. If you want to write it in HTML manually, just make sure you copy and paste what you’ve done into the ‘Edit HTML’ window, not the standard ‘Compose’ one.
Exactly! I was using the regular "Compose" one and it wasn't working well for me. I did today's post in the "Edit HTML" and it worked perfectly! Thanks Simon.
um, have you tried using the html tab of the entry block? you can use the normal coding with that and revert to the "visual" anytime to see how it looks... that's how I also add my smilies, etc.
ReplyDeletealso, a pm system is missing... but you can still use mine *wink*
ReplyDeleteDorrie - I have, but apparently I don't know how to use it, lol.
ReplyDelete(also, I rarely ever sent PM's, so I don't miss it)
I miss the homepage too, but if you go to blogger.com, it will show you which of your favorite blogs have updated.
ReplyDeletethanks for the blog visit! btw, I loooved dirty rotten scoundrels--I forgot about that one!
ReplyDeleteOooo I like that picture!
ReplyDeleteI drive myself nuts with the spaces-between-paragraphs thing too... :)
Are you sure you’re doing it correctly? I normally write my entries in Word, and use macros for all HTML tags, but I just had a go with the Blogger Compose box, and it seems to work okay.
ReplyDeleteJust type in what you want, select the text you want to convert into a hyperlink by clicking and dragging across it, then click on the ‘Link’ icon (in either the Compose or the Edit HTML mode), and a box appears for you to put the URL of the page you want to link to in. You can either type it into the box, or, more simply, copy and paste it from the address bar when you’ve opened the required page.
P.S. If you want to write it in HTML manually, just make sure you copy and paste what you’ve done into the ‘Edit HTML’ window, not the standard ‘Compose’ one.
ReplyDeleteI am liking it here too. I have tried and tried to like the new Journalspace but it's just not for me...not to mention the amount of spam messages I keep getting there. I'm still finding my way around here but this now is my blog home.
ReplyDeleteHrmmm I've not had any problems with paragraph spacings or HTML. Perhaps my journal is set up differently somehow? p.s. you have a good Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI am more comfortable here as well although I would say I have lost some of my following. Part of me is relieved.
ReplyDeleteI have always preferred to be obscure.
Bobby
Kate try triple spacing between paragraphs ...that seems to work for me.
ReplyDeleteI miss the homepage, but thats it. I like it here too.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any problems with spacing, but try the HTML tab as dorrie suggested. You can flip between both quite comfortably.
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon - I'll try that!
ReplyDeleteCathy - I tried triple spacing and that worked!
I miss the PM capability too, but that can be gotten around by setting up either a yahoo or google email account and posting it on your blog. Otherwise, I find blogspot user friendly and can't really complain. I don't feel a need to go back to JS just because it's called JS. And I've discovered some pretty interesting blogs over here.
ReplyDeletethe no-space between paragraphs drives me nuts but I use the break tag in the HTML option. The BR between the triangle brackets. Triple spacing sometimes is too much space for me.
