crazy weather

I love living in Alberta, for the most part. But when it snows (like it did last night, although it melted immediately) I just want to move back to BC. It might be rainy a lot of the time, but that has to be better than snow, and I bet there are flowers blooming everywhere.

Here's a quick question for you. Do you have life insurance? Do you believe in life insurance?

I'll be back later to tell you about the movie we saw last night, for $6.

Have a good one.

  1. Beautiful photo! My husband and I do have life insurance. Since we have 4 kids, we figured that it made sense for us. My husband is right on top of those things. If it was up to me, I probably would not have thought to get insurance as quickly as he did. I don't like to think of those things. I guess it is good that he does.

  2. I have insurance. I'm worth more dead than alive...

I can't imagine snow right now. That would have killed me.

  3. I have insurance, but just term and I am going to cancel it. I did not appreciate the last jump in premium - about 75%. No one needs to profit on my death, so my work-paid life insurance will cover whatever needs to be done.

  4. I have life insurance and I believe in it. My wife's father dies when she was young and the family was under-insured. They payed a price for that and the family's fortunes never really recovered until the kids went away and made their own lives.

When my babies were born, I increased the insurance we carry substantially. The thought of them struggling is difficult for me.

  5. Wow, you got snow?!?! I can't imagine. My mind is firmly on spring and summer now. As for life insurance. I do have it. I felt it was important for my daughters, just in case.....

  6. I am insured Kate - as a single parent it seems only responsible. The steeply increasing cost of the premiums does irk me though, I hate that an insurance company is likely to profit greatly from my desire to secure my childs future. I have no problem with some profit, after all they're in business but it seems extortion what I pay each month now. Reminds me, now that I haven't smoked for nearly a year, my premiums might come down eh? Must ring them.

  7. i have 70k of life insurance and that costs me 4 dollars a month. which seems ridiculously cheap. im not sure what it will buy for the kiddies. maybe mario kart and an extra controller for the wii, or maybe 1 year at teachers college.

  9. I have life insurance. I try very hard to live debt free (e.g., pay cash for my automobiles, etc., seldom pay retail for anything besides groceries because I shop second-hand etc. Meanwhile I believe the American lifestyle REQUIRES Life Insurance. If you and your family decide to become like Gypsies, living on a lifeboat near India with no other possessions and no kids or dependents to keep fed long after you're gone -- THEN maybe then you do NOT need life insurance. Living in regular America??? It's pretty selfish to have a family and no life insurance to care for their future well-being should the inevitable happen sooner than you expect.

  10. Doug - cancel the term, or convert it into permanent. $25,000 is all you'll need for final expenses, and now that you're not smoking, it'll cost less.
    ST - YES, thank you!
    thanks everybody!
