ZZzzzzzzzz

For the last month I've had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Every night I lay in bed for at least half an hour before finally falling asleep, then between 4:00 and 4:30 am I wake up and stay up for at least an hour. Usually I'll take a gravol to go back to sleep, but then I don't get up until noon.

I was using sleeping pills for almost three years after Dale passed away, but when Bill moved in in 2005 (and we got the new Queen bed) I started sleeping fine and gave them up. When I quit smoking in 2007, I used the patch for a few days but that was a huge mistake! I suffered nerve damage and now every morning around 4:00 am the area near my shoulder blade starts buzzing, burning and itching until it wakes me out of a solid sleep. I think I will start using zopiclone until it heals, if it's ever going to. I guess I'd better see my physician about it.

Today is a very quiet day. Em is playing some video games, Jamie is downstairs with her boyfriend, and Bill is having a nap. The only thing I must do today is take a trip to the grocery store before supper.

Happy New Year!

  1. My wife is having the same problem. Having gone to the doctor twice...using prescription sleep aids, with nothing working, she's going to an acupuncturist next week. My brother's sig other swears it will work. Maybe?

  3. When I go to bed, I use the laptop to surf or play a silly game until I crash. I can't just go to bed and sleep.

Your grocery store is open today? I never checked to see if the ones near me are.

  4. Maybe acupuncture could help with the sleep and the nerve damage. I didn't even know the patch could do that. My doc has me on a liquid calcium/magnesium supplement that I swear helps me sleep better. She said it's the magnesium as most women are deficient.

  6. I have to have my nitey nite pill to sleep well. I never knew what a good sleep was until I started taking them. Makes a world of difference to get a good nights sleep! And yes, seeing the doc might be helpful! :)

  7. You could do what the pirates do: (drink rum until you pass out). Arrrrgh!

I had no idea the nicotine patch could cause damage like that. Yikes! (Hopefully those symptoms won't last forever.)

  8. I'm starting to feel Zzzzzz, right now, lol! It's just about 10:00p.m. here.

I also read that magnesium is great for sleep, a mineral that us women are lacking.

That's a good idea to see the Doc about it.

  9. I sleep great at night UNLESS I have something to drink after dinner. I never can decide which is worse...being thirsty all evening or visiting the men's room at 2am. Haha!
