home sweet home

Today was a long day spent at home, much of it laying down because I've caught the flu or something. I'm exhausted and keep losing my voice too, and then there's the insomnia making me lethargic. I guess I'm a mess, lol.

I caught Titanic on TV while I sipped Neo Citran and slept on and off, then tonight the whole family went out to see Madagascar 2, which was pretty funny. I'm glad that it got us out of the house! And, it was only -15°C, which felt like summer. (Yesterday was bitterly cold. -36°C and who knows how much lower with the wind chill. It flattened my tire again)

Do you ever think about where you'd like to retire one day? Right now I'm picturing a little houseboat in Victoria for most of the year, then trips to places like Greece and Italy and Ireland during the rainy season.

Guess I'll have to work a little harder. Have a good week!

  2. Bill and I want to go traveling all through the U.S. in an RV in our retired, golden years. Don't know where the permanent residence will end up being. :)

  3. Not sure where we want to retire although I'd like to have a ranch near Santa Fe. I hope the rapture comes before then.

  5. I hope you're feeling a hundred percent soon. I'm still getting over a cold I had over Christmas and its getting really old!

To retire I definitely want to stay in the southern half of the US, I like the mild winters.

Y'know, I've never actually seen titanic, but then I'm a guy so it's not required ;)

  10. Hi Kate, so glad to have found you (hugs)...

Finally a mist of rain today here, otherwise the scene here in BC is of a winter wonderland.Mom says she hasn't ever seen this much snow.I bet its quite wintery your way too, least colder I imagine there.

Retiring on the Island sounds wonderful.I've always loved Vancouver Island.

Hope your well. And I MISS YOU!!!

  12. Awesome photo of the ice-cycles! When I think of retiring -- it's someplace warm; like maybe the dessert, far away in some very remote area where I can be largely alone.

It's a lot easier feeling like I'm evolved as a wise woman when I'm alone (as opposed to when I'm living with a lot of people and have to do so much laundry). LOL. Your house-boat scenario sounds romantic but I'm not sure I'd want to be rocked to sleep every night where a tsunami could potentially happen.

  13. Victoria would be GREAT. Never been to Greece, but it would definitely make my short list. Hope you feel better soon.:)

  15. That is funny - I never think about where to retire but only that I would get to sleep in and NOT get up at 4 am.

  17. my retirement fantasy is to stay indefinitely at a 5-star hotel in europe. i believe some hotels have suites available for perennial guests like that. wouldn't it be fun not to worry about doing your bed and laundry and have somebody always available at your beck and call? and think of all the people you'd meet coming from different places in the world? if you're expecting company, no problem. you can book them at the hotel with you. and when you get tired of a particular place and city, just move to another location.
