it's all over but the crying

Tokyo; 9:45 am this morning

Merry Christmas!

We're having a very quiet day but to be honest, we needed it. Work has been kicking our butts this past week. It's been bitterly cold (-40°C) and I haven't been able to get a car yet. Bill's truck is now able to change gears (for awhile there it was stuck in first) but has no heat. Brrrr!

Christmas was lovely and everyone gave and received awesome gifts (lots of jewelry, lotions and PJ's all around) but I didn't balance the gifts between the stockings and under the tree so it seemed like Emily had more than Jamie. I always feel so guilty when that happens, but overall everything turned out great.

Tonight we're going to see Sherlock Holmes, then coming back for turkey afterward. No big dinner, since Jamie is having dinner with her BF's family, but we'll be having hot turkey sandwiches with stuffing, mashed potatoes and veggies.

How was your day? I have to admit, I thought quite a bit about all my old journalspace friends today and all the fun we used to have. It's been just over a year since the old site crashed. I enjoy blogspot quite a bit, as well as the new Keep Connected Live site and hope to spend more time there in January.

Leave me a comment as a Christmas present!

  1. It is true we are scattered all over the place and the warmth and closeness is long gone. JS was not the best place or the fanciest, but it was our home in the blogosphere.

I'm happy to see you had a nice Christmas. I hope the new year will bring you more new and exciting things.

    Take care,

  2. Merry Christmas to you and your family! I was thinking that I spent Christmas last year designing my new site. What a shocker that was.

  3. Merry Christmas, Kate. It was a good day here, and we all had plenty to eat, we all enjoyed our gifts.

  4. Happy Christmas to you Kate. -40? I can't even imagine what that feels like. I didn't settle at KCL so I'll be staying put here.

  5. Merry Christmas Kate!!

Yes, the big JS crash spread us all over the place. I'm glad some of us managed to keep contact, but it's not like it once was.... even I'm blogging less! :-(

    I'm glad your Christmas was nice... and hope 2010 will be the best year ever for you! {hugs}

  6. A quiet one, thankfully: things will probably step up today with a visit to my sister and nieces, but I should be able to dampen their excitement.

And yes, I naturally remember the bad timing of last year’s JS crash: halfway though my Card Appeal, meaning that a number of people’s cards never got posted, which was rather sad.

  7. Kate, thank you for stopping in and leaving your thoughtful reminded me to come and say hello's quiet here now, coming on midnight, a day with family and while I still feel distant, it is good to be with those you love and feel loved.

  8. Hey Kate, Merry Christmas to you and your family!

I found you somehow but not through JS directly. I had found another gal, can't remember the name of the journal; she was an expat Austrailian stewardess flying out of Dubai. She wrote about her interesting adventures and I enjoyed reading her. She was one of the few JS journals I found that I didn't have to belong to be able to read. I clicked a link on her site and found you, another JS'er who I was able read. I have been peeking into your life since around the time you went camping ...a year or two before you and Bill got married.

I have enjoyed reading your honest, raw and heartfelt posts over the years. I read you like I would imagine you would sound if you were speaking to me. You are so strong ...more than you give yourself credit for ... nuturing to your family and a good example of how you just have to keep going no matter what bumps in our life we must navigate. Just wanted to let you know that I have been inspired by you.

Hope when you ever get back to Kelowna you will come visit me in my store ...would love to meet you.

All the best in the New Year to you ...

  9. Well Merry Christmas and hopefully you aren't too busy on this Boxing Day!! Love the cat in the tree.

  10. My family all agreed that much as we love the turkey dinner it is the leftovers that are the best part. I can eat them over and over again.

  11. I'm going to see Sherlock Holmes on Wednesday. I'm really looking forward to it. Glad that you had a nice Christmas. We had kid chaos for most of Christmas morning. Gratefully, they are calming down a bit today :)

  12. Merry Christmas to you and yours Kate! Glad you had a nice Christmas :)
