may flowers

photographer unknown

It's been very busy these last few weeks! We've been taking care of the house and the yard, which has included lots of trips to the garden center, Wal-mart and Home Depot. And, even though many of you have had your shrubs and plants up for weeks, we're just starting to see life come from ours (that snow storm slowed everything up!)

The most tiring thing I've done this week was yesterday - we hired a furnace & duct cleaning company, and his huge noisy truck sat in front of the house for three hours. Every hot and cold vent was done, so I spent most of the day re-arranging furniture, sweeping and cleaning. I made a pot roast while he was here, so that we could have hot beef sandwiches when Bill got home, and after that we had to buy furnace filters, and get Em a pair of black pants for band tonight.

In between everything, I am still watching Six Feet Under - I think I'm on Season Four, Episode three. I'm pretty sure I won't watch any regular TV until it's finished. I'm also getting some paperwork done on the insurance side, and picking up a few extra shifts at the clothing store.

Well, I am off to drive Em to her Track Meet. She's competing in javelin, long jump and high jump. I'm sure she'll be great!

Happy Hump Day!

spring clean

We've spent the last few days doing some spring cleaning! Not that there isn't still a foot of snow on the ground, but at least it's starting to melt in earnest.

Most of the cleaning started in the kitchen, but then we noticed someone puked on the bed (we're not placing blame, LOLA) and off we went to the laundrymat where they have huge washing machines. $8 later, and our king sized comforter was clean again. We hung it out on the balcony yesterday and brought it in to hang over my staircase last night.

This morning it's completely dry and looks great. Love that king sized bed, but man - the blankets are so heavy! I like it that Bill was around this morning to help me. He's usually gone by 7 am, but he got a call last night saying they wanted him up at Etson near midnight (daytime road bans) so he's going in later.

I haven't received any job offers yet, but we're hoping that'll be today. In the meantime, I think we're going to finish some cleaning around here. Have a good Tuesday!

suzy homemaker

Having a flat tire left me at home with nothing to do but clean, and I suppose it helped that JS was down as well. What you're seeing here is a chair that hasn't been empty since August!
I love the chair, but ever since I bought it I have realized that my house is just not big enough to hold it, and neither is my bedroom. I tend to throw stuff on it, like the things that need to be hand washed, or books I'm going to put away later, or things that need to be pressed.
I had to clean everything yesterday because I had to fit a table beside the bed, which I have needed badly ever since we got the king-sized bed. It's just so much easier because now I don't have to search for my glasses in the morning.
Let's see how long I can keep my side of the bed clean. It's going to take some discipline!
